What is Lifestyle Medicine?

Lifestyle medicine is a branch of medicine dealing with research, prevention and treatment of disorders caused by lifestyle factors such as nutrition, physical inactivity, and chronic stress. 


Lifestyle Medicine focuses on educating and motivating patients to change personal habits and behaviors around the use of a whole food, plant-predominant dietary lifestyle, regular physical activityrestorative sleep, stress management, avoidance of risky substances and positive social connection. 


In the clinic, major barriers to lifestyle counseling are that physicians feel ill-prepared and are skeptical about their patients' receptivity. Here at Camillia Wellness we focus mainly on that in order for you to reach your health goals.

Dr. Amber Robins

Dr. Amber's approach is to be sure every patient understands and agrees to their treatment plan. She considers her patients to be the MVP and she's the coach trying to make sure they play the right plays to achieve better health. She believes her job isn't to prescribe people lots of pills, but to better manage their entire health through lifestyle medicine. She's especially interested in chronic disease management and women's health. 


She enjoys working with her patients to meet their desired goals and understands that it will take dedicated time to achieve them. For weight loss and overall wellness, she enjoys designing a personalized program that fits into her patients' lifestyles. 

To stay healthy, Dr. Amber enjoys cooking and she's working on developing a better exercise routine. Outside of work, she loves to sing, listen to and play music, and volunteer at her church and college alumni association. Dr. Amber earned her medical degree and completed her residency at the University of Rochester School of Medicine. She also holds an MBA. She's board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. She is a best-selling author and medical journalist.
